Paul Smith has explained why he and his famous siblings have decided to set up their own sports management company. Paul, along with Stephen, Liam and Callum, are all set to put their time into a new venture called Smith Brothers Management.

The four siblings are arguably the most famous family in British boxing, each having carved out impressive careers in the sport. Liam and Callum remain active fighters, with Callum set to face Joshua Buatsi for the WBO 'interim' light-heavyweight belt in Saudi Arabia next month.

Stephen has already forged a career as a coach, while former world title challenger Paul is now entering the world of management and will be co-managing director of the new venture alongside Majid Lavji. The group wants to provide a 'comprehensive 360-degree management service' that focuses on interests both inside and outside the ring for its fighters, while Lavji believes it is a 'one-of-a-kind agency in the world of boxing.'

Explaining the thinking behind the company, Paul revealed: “As a former boxer turned manager, I have always held a strong belief: fighters deserve better management.

“In the world of boxing, the athlete is the beating heart of the sport, yet too often they are overshadowed by their managers. A true manager should possess a deep understanding of the sport from the ring to the locker room.

“They should have first-hand experience and knowledge of every twist and turn that can occur in the ring, guiding their athlete towards greatness.

“Together, as a cohesive team, they make crucial decisions and offer expert advice to ensure the fighter’s success.

“Behind every successful manager stands a powerhouse team, tackling the dynamic world of sports business, finances, media and the fighter’s daily life.

“Our agency is a united force, dedicated to supporting and championing our fighter every step of the way.”

As well as the four Smith siblings and Lavji, Tim McInally, Jim Wheat and Laura McGinty are also part of the venture.

“Paul Smith and I were driven by a united vision when we joined forces to establish an agency that prioritises our clients above all else, both on and off the field,” Lavji said.

“Our goal was to build a powerhouse agency that allows athletes to focus solely on their sport while we handle all the rest.

“With a team well-versed in managing professional sports players across various industries and Paul and Stephen’s unparalleled expertise and love for boxing, we created Smith Brothers Management - a one-of-a-kind agency in the world of boxing.”
