The January transfer window is nearly upon us - with Derby County and many of their Championship rivals looking to strengthen their squads.

A striker, a central midfielder and maybe a right-back could be on the agenda for head coach Paul Warne when the market finally opens for business.

Last January, Derby utilised the market to recruit Corey Blackett-Taylor from Charlton before that move became permanent in the summer for a fee of £300,000.

And who could forget the loan of Ebou Adams from Cardiff City, which proved a pivotal signing as the club went on to win promotion from League One.

Warne has already admitted that he wants to add more goals to his attack, and with 120 players out of contract in the summer that could open up a few avenues to cut-price deals.

Blackett-Taylor's contract at Charlton was coming to an end when Derby landed him, which meant they could sign him for a relatively cheap price. And there may well be similar deals that Derby could do given there are so many players who will become free agents in the summer.
