Paul Warne responds to Derby County chants in defeat to Sheffield United as pressure mounts
Paul Warne described chants directed at him as "sad" but thanked the supporters for not targeting his Derby County squad.
Warne was subjected to chants about his football from a section of the fanbase during the second half of Derby's 1-0 defeat to Sheffield United at the end of which there were boos at the final whistle.
Ben Brereton Diaz's goal settled the Championship clash which inflicted a seventh straight league defeat on a Derby side that struggled to create chances. Asked about how he felt about the chanting in the second half, Warne said: "I don't know what the manager handbook would say to that question.

"My honest answer is that it's pretty sad. I dedicate my life to the club, but I also understand it, and as long as that is at me, that's fine. I was well aware the fans sang abuse at me but then cheered the team on for which I thank them.
"But it's sad isn't it? There is no other way of putting it. But I also understand that, where can the frustration can go? I don't want it to go towards the players so then it will be at me.
"I have to take that. You can't be a football manager and expect it any other way. I had a conversation with Chris Wilder at the final whistle and his staff about similar situations. We haven't had enough quality to win a game, and that lies with me, so I completely understand why factions of the crowd reacted the way they did.
"It's not great, and it's not something I want my family to witness, but unfortunately, if you are a manager, it comes with it."
