Paul Warne reveals why he said 'my God, no' in Derby County's win over West Brom
Derby County head coach praised his side's performance after they overcame West Brom at Pride Park.
The Rams secured a 2-1 win against the Baggies and took a deserved lead into half-time courtesy of an excellent finish from Jerry Yates. Albion did hit the woodwork twice from distance in the opening 45 minutes, but that was as close as it got for the visitors as Derby controlled the first half.
But the Baggies, who saw boss Carlos Corberan depart for Valencia this week, were much better after the break but Mason Holgate put Derby further ahead when he deflected Kayden Jackson's shot past Alex Palmer.

"I was really pleased and thought we were really good first half although in fairness West Brom hit the post twice be it from distance," said Warne afterwards.
"In the second half they put it on us, we hung in there and we didn't press every ball because you can't. We defended pretty well and we had to make changes. We probably just had enough to get over the line.
"When they had a free-kick in the last minute I thought 'oh my God, no' - it felt like Luton revisited. That will give the lads a real boost because three points in this league is a big deal. We were against a really good team and the crowd helped us no end because we were fatiguing and gassed. But it don't half help when you have 30,000 people cheering every tackle. Everybody played a part and it's a nice club to be at."
