Pecco Bagnaia says that Marc Marquez's arrival at Ducati won't change his approach.

Eight time world champion Marquez has joined Bagnaia at Ducati's factory MotoGP team for 2025, after a sensational return to form on a year-old Gresini bike after three years battling career threatening injuries whilst at Honda. The move saw the Bologna marque let world champion Jorge Martin leave for rivals Aprilia - despite lifting the world championship - and will see Valentino Rossi prodigy Bagnaia paired with veteran Marquez for the first time.

But the 2022 and 2023 premier class world champion insists that he won't change anything about his super clean style when asked about comments made by team boss Davide Tardozzi in a behind-the-scenes documentary, where he was urged to be less of a gentleman with his rivals on the track. He said: "I will let him (Marc) be the ungentleman. I will be the gentleman, I will always be like this and I won't change at any time.

"It's super exciting to have Marc in the team, it's absolutely the strongest team on the grid. I think we can take advantages from it, I will try to learn from some things about Marc. I think he will adapt super quickly to the team, for the first part of the test we will work together to try and improve the bike. Then what will happen will happen. Who will win will win, but the potential is there."

When asked if fans could expect to see a different Pecco Bagnaia in 2025 the former Pramac rider replied: "They better not, considering the results it's better to not change myself. In any case I have just got to improve myself and take a little step. I think it will be a super exciting season, with a new teammate and new bike.

"It's difficult to be sad about what we did last year, honestly. Finishing second in the championship was a shame because we won more than double the races of the other riders, so absolutely it was a fantastic season. But I have to improve on my mistakes and we have to improve on some situation where we made some mistakes as a team. It's more easy to learn how to not crash than how to win. It will be a good process to learn from our mistakes."

Marquez meanwhile believes he has the potential to fight for a ninth world title - and seventh in the premier class - for the first time since his 2020 campaign was ended after one round by a serious arm injury, that threatened to end his career. The Catalan explained: "This year of course we are in the official team and have to fight for the world championship from the first race, but I'm enjoying being on being on a bike again. Last year I enjoyed it a lot, this year the aim is to keep enjoying it. If you're enjoying it then everything arrives.

"I will have an eye on the title and will work with the team to be more competitive. Our target is to try to win. If Pecco is not able to win then I need to, and the opposite. That will be the main target. We have everything to fight for the championship. We have the bike, we have the correct team so now it's in my hands."
