A Pembrokeshire badminton group is relocating to a new venue and hopes to attract more players.

The Neyland Badminton Group, part of Pembrokeshire U3A, is moving to Neyland Community Hub to accommodate more members.

The group previously played at St Clements Church Hall, but some players found the space restrictive due to its low roof and limited space around the court.

The move to the Community Hub aims to address these issues, offering a second court and more room for both experienced and new players.

A spokesperson for the group said: "As a badminton group we did enjoy playing at St Clements Church Hall in Neyland over the years, but became aware that some keener (and more athletic!) players amongst us, struggled to play there because of the confines of the hall, which we had to consider if we were going to expand and attract more players."

The group is made up of mixed-ability, mainly mature players who focus on enjoying the sport rather than competition.

The sessions, which take place every Tuesday from 11am to 1pm, also include a break for refreshments and socialising.

The first session is free for newcomers, with subsequent sessions costing £5 for two hours or £2.50 for one hour.

Spare rackets are available for those who do not have their own.

The spokesperson added: "We are a fun, friendly group who play for exercise and entertainment.

"We always aim to improve our skills, but the social side of the group is important too."

The group is encouraging anyone with an interest in badminton to join, regardless of skill level.
