What Pep Guardiola changed to get Man City back to winning ways
Manchester City earnt their first win in six games against Leicester City last Sunday, with Pep Guardiola making some tweaks which proved to be key.
It was clear to see the changes Guardiola had made with the defensive line dropping back slightly to avoid issues when the opposition were in transition.
In terms of City’s attacking play against the Foxes, a big difference was how they were playing on the counter attack rather than looking to dominate the ball. They had just 46% possession, and this could be a sign of Guardiola temporarily opting to leave parts of his philosophy behind and adapting in times of hardship.

Kevin De Bruyne replaced Jeremy Doku in the starting XI with Phil Foden moving out to the right wing. Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovacic and De Bruyne were all able to win the ball back in key areas and this played a big part in City's victory.
It was Savinho who broke the deadlock in the 21st minute as he got his first goal for City. The strike will be a huge confidence boost for the Brazilian as his performances, along with the rest of his teammates', have been below par.
Another player in need of a goal was Erling Haaland. He scored the second goal with 16 minutes to go, having only scored two in his past eight Premier League games.
City fans will be hoping their team can build on this result and get back into the Champions League spots, but reinforcements are needed.
