Pep Guardiola says it will be “difficult” if Barcelona want to sign Bernardo Silva this summer.

Reports have linked with the Spanish giants with a move for the midfielder, who admitted he wanted to leave the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2021 during interview with The Times back in March.

Whether or not Barcelona could afford a move for a player who still has three years to run his City contract remains to be seen, but the Portugal international had been touted as a target as a potential replacement of Frenkie De Jong.

Barca have already signed Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres from City over the past two windows as they attempt to close the gap on Real Madrid at the top of Spanish football.

Guardiola was quizzed on a number of topics at the Legends Golf Trophy in Palma, including his former club’s interest in signing Robert Lewandowski, a striker he coached at Bayern Munich.

When the idea of a Barcelona move for Silva was raised, the City boss replied (via Mundo Deportivo): “It would be very difficult for them.”
