When Pep Guardiola's Man City contract now expires after signing new deal
Pep Guardiola will remain in charge at Manchester City until at least the summer of 2026 - with the possibility of the deal being extended until 2027 - having signed a new contract at the Etihad.
The Blues boss' previous deal was due to expire in the summer and there has been plenty of speculation surrounding his future with many believing he may call time on his City career. But the mood shifted towards an extension in recent weeks and that has now been confirmed with a one-year deal plus the option of a further 12 months.
It means Guardiola will pass a decade in charge - assuming he sees out the full length of his new contract - having joined in 2015. His spell has been trophy-laden with six Premier Leagues, four EFL Cups, two FA Cups, a Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup all added to the honours board under his watch.

Already the longest-serving manager in the top flight, Guardiola's extension potentially moves him to within two years of Les McDowall as the longest-serving City manager in their post-war history. City's intentions to secure Guardiola for another contract were never in doubt.
The reservations came from Guardiola, who has had considerable pain from a back injury that required surgery last season and needed to be convinced in his mind that he was making the right decision for himself - knowing that he would like to coach an international team before he retires - and his family.
Speculation had linked him with a national team job in time to oversee a 2026 World Cup campaign but his new deal ends that possibility. Should he depart City in 2027 it is feasible he could take up an international post in time for the 2030 World Cup which is being held in multiple countries, including Spain.
Guardiola has been heavily linked with taking on the Brazil job, while there was also clamour for him to become the new England boss when Gareth Southgate announced his decision to depart. Now 53, Guardiola has been in management without a break since 2013 and it seems likely that as and when he does leave City he will take a sabbatical before taking on another role.
