Philippe Clement makes Lyall Cameron admission as Rangers boss wanted Dundee star earlier
Philippe Clement admitted he want to sign Lyall Cameron before the summer - but Rangers couldn't afford it.
It was announced on deadline day that the Dundee midfielder had agreed a pre-contract for an end-of-season switch to Ibrox. But Clement wanted to bring in the ex-Scotland Under-21 star for the remainder of this campaign.
The Belgian said: "We, as a club, wanted more. We talked about that at the end. We didn't achieve all the goals we wanted. We wanted Lyall to come as fast as possible, but it did not happen. In the end, that's a financial decision, of course. We need to wait a few months longer.

"Sometimes it's the case. It was the case with Jefte last year. I'm very happy that he comes. It's part of our plans that we have with the club to develop young Scottish players, or to get young Scottish players with potential.
"Lyall already did a lot of good things in Dundee. He scored 18 goals already in 83 games for the club. That's almost one out of four. Those are really good stats.
"He has the right mentality. Lyall really wants to come to Rangers. We had several talks about how I see him playing, and what he could do for the team. We're really happy that he can come next season."
