Philippe Clement in weighty Rangers pyro warning as he tells fans fine money could go on transfers
Philippe Clement has warned the Rangers support that pyro is hitting the club in the pocket - and they'd rather spent it on new players.
The Light Blues find themselves in the dock alongside Celtic and Motherwell from the SPFL after 'totally unacceptable' pyro breaches with the games governing body coming out swinging over the Premier Sports Cup semi-final incidents. The Hoops' win over Aberdeen was delayed by 14 minutes due to behaviour from a minority of fans while 24 hours later, the Light Blues and Steelmen faced a five minute delay.
The trio of clubs have been issued with notices of complaints under the SPFL rule H34 and will face a disciplinary hearing. Speaking to the media ahead of the trip to Dingwall on Sunday lunchtime, Clement delivered his reaction to the breaking news earlier today and said: "I gave that message already several times so everybody knows my opinion about that. First it's not safe, secondly it costs the club money and we want to use that money in a better way that we can do the right things with the squad so the squad becomes better and the fans can be more happy with the squad.
‘So again a clear message that it doesn't help in any sense towards the team in that way and I understand that people want to make a good atmosphere and maybe using those things but the best thing they can use is their voice and to sing and to support the players because in that way I've been really happy in Scottish football with the atmosphere in the stadiums and that's much more important than Paris. Do you think it can be stopped?
“I don't know how the organisation is, how the body scans are or whatever so I can only say what I said last couple of times and this time again. I think it's really clear for everybody who has good intentions for the club.”
