Picture round-up from Watford Half Marathon and Fun Run
Chris Davies was the dominant winner of the Watford Half Marathon as around 2,000 competitors took part in the popular annual festival of running on Sunday.
The Harrow AC runner crossed the Cassiobury Park finishing line in a net time of 1 hour 10 minutes 14 seconds, completing the 13-mile course almost a full minute ahead of Jude Bell (1:11.07).
Tring RC’s Eoin Molloy (1:11.15) was eight seconds back in third, finishing narrowly in front of last year’s winner Matt Kitching (1:11.17), of Queens Park Harriers, who had to settle for fourth place this time around.
There was success for Watford Joggers in the women’s race with Helen Mussen (1:25.24) taking first place ahead of runner-up Catherine O’Connor (1:25.52), from St Albans Striders, while Esm AC’s Julie Triou (1:26.45) completing the podium positions.
More than 1,500 competitors finished the half marathon in the Active Training World-organised event, which started and finished in Cassiobury Park, while another 280 completed the inaugural 10k.
Harry Pettingell (38.13), of Thame Runners, was crowned the first winner of this race, with St Albans Striders’ Sam Adcock (39.44) second and Jonny Slade (42.04), of Chiltern Harriers, home in third.
Laura Goodson (43.20), of Belgrave Harriers, won the women’s race, Chiltern Harriers’ Katie Royals (46.03) came second and Clare Wolf (50.22).
Younger athletes were also able to get involved by taking part in a fun run and the respective age group winners were: Female: Under-10, Kallie Borza, 10.25; Under-11, Emiko Watts, 8.20; Under-13, Hattie Hadland, 8.10; Ages 20-34, Kirstie Peck, 10.25; Ages 35-44, Lucy Creak, 11.07. Male: Under-10, James Hall, 8.27; Under-11, Ethan Ashwood, 7.58; Under-13, Oscar Waller, 9.02; Ages 20-39, Digby Fordham, 15.13; Ages 40-49, Steve Hiscock, 10.35.
