I should have been playing for Newcastle United's first team after scoring so many goals
Elias Sorensen is smiling again. The former Newcastle United youngster has completed a move to Valerenga and already has his sights set on scoring 'as many goals as possible'.
Sorensen certainly knew how to find the back of the net during his spell at Newcastle's academy. In fact, at the time, the confident Dane even felt he 'should be playing' for the first team because of his prolific record for the under-23s.
Sorensen did go on to feature in a couple of friendlies in the Far East, but the striker ultimately never made a competitive appearance for the club and joined Esbjerg in 2021. Sorensen went on to earn a move to Portsmouth last summer after firing the Danish second division side to promotion.

Sorensen quickly made an impact at Pompey - scoring on his Championship debut against Leeds United on the opening day - but the 25-year-old has now joined Valerenga following limited game time under boss John Mousinho.
"You are never going to look at a player who has been here for six months and not played a huge amount of games and say it has been a roaring success," Mousinho told reporters. "But Eli was a great kid, he kept his head down in training, he scored a really important goal for us up at Leeds and had a really big contribution.
"You never know until the back end of the season what that contribution is going to amount to, what the goal or the other bits of effort he put in during the season are going to give us.
"He was keen to go and that was no surprise because of the amount of minutes he had. He wasn’t itching for a move by any means - he was looking to compete and stay here - but when the opportunity came up, we didn’t want to stand in his way."
