Plymouth Albion head to Leicester Lions this Saturday looking to extend their incredible unbeaten run and make it six wins in a row. With five consecutive bonus-point victories under their belt, Albion have been one of the standout teams in the league since the turn of the year.

Another win would further cement Albion’s position in the top half of the table, keeping them in contention for a potential top-three finish. With a massive fixture against Blackheath next weekend, it’s crucial that Albion keep their momentum going.

Ryan Lamb’s side have shown immense character in recent weeks, digging deep to grind out crucial wins in both dominant and nail-biting fashion. Last weekend’s thrilling 33-32 victory away at Birmingham Moseley was a prime example of their resilience, with Harry Wilkinson delivering a Man of the Match performance, bagging two tries in a game where Albion had to overcome injuries and late squad changes.

Lamb was full of praise for his team’s attitude. He said: “The players have been outstanding. We’ve had lads dropping out on the day and injuries piling up, yet they’ve stuck together and found ways to win. That’s a real testament to their character."

With 25 points from their last five games, Albion’s confidence is sky-high—but they won’t be taking anything for granted. Leicester Lions have endured a difficult season and currently sit 13th in the league with just three wins. However, they’ll be desperate to turn their form around—especially against one of the league’s most in-form sides.

Since the original fixture was postponed, the Lions have struggled, losing 25-10 away to Sedgley Tigers and 36-19 at home to Rams. While results suggest Albion should have the upper hand, the Lions will be fired up, knowing a victory over Plymouth would be a massive statement. Albion edged a 27-22 victory over Leicester earlier in the season at Brickfields, so they know this won’t be an easy test.

Injuries continue to test Albion’s depth, with Herbie Stupple still sidelined after picking up a knock in late December. However, there’s good news as Connor Eastgate returns to the starting lineup for the first time this season after overcoming two early setbacks. His inclusion should add experience and control.

Another boost comes in the form of Jake Bond, who returns to the bench after time out due to injury, providing valuable reinforcement for the pack. With rotation in full flow, Albion will be relying on their squad depth to maintain their winning form.
