Plymouth Argyle move for Dutch defender reported to have fallen through
Plymouth Argyle's hopes of signing 24-year-old Dutch defender Mike Eerdhuijzen in a £1.1 million transfer appear to have been dashed.
The Pilgrims had an offer for Eerdhuijzen accepted by Sparta Rotterdam but, according to a report by Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, the player does not want to make the move due to the club's position at the bottom of the Championship.
Then, last night, talkSPORT chief football correspondent Alex Crook posted on social media that he understood League One outfit had rejected a £250,000 bid from Argyle for defender 27-year-old Paudie O'Connor.

Eerdhuijzen has started 17 of Sparta Rotterdam's 19 games in the Dutch Eredivisie, most recently in a 1-1 draw at home to RKC Waalwijk last Sunday.
The report by De Telegraaf on Eerdhuijzen said: "Another financial setback for Sparta Rotterdam. The Kasteel club reached an agreement with Plymouth Argyle from the Championship about a transfer of Mike Eerdhuijzen, but the deal collapsed because the player does not want to move to the number 24 and thus bottom of the Championship.
"Sparta was able to collect 1.3 million euros for the central defender, who was transferred on a free transfer from FC Volendam in mid-2022. It is not the first time that Sparta has seen a lucrative sale of Eerdhuijzen fail.
"Last summer, the club reached an agreement with Birmingham City on a transfer fee of 2.3 million euros for Eerdhuijzen and the defender from Purmerend also reached an agreement on a four-year contract, but the League One club still called off the deal because the defender was struggling with a minor injury at the time of the medical examination."
