Plymouth Argyle player ratings from hard-fought Luton Town deadlock
Here are the player ratings of Plymouth Live's Argyle reporter Chris Errington from the Pilgrims' 1-1 draw against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road. You can give your marks too using our special widget further down this story.
Conor Hazard 6 - Given the large number of times the ball was put into the Argyle penalty area by Luton, Hazard did not have many notable saves to make. Surprisingly, he was caught out by a couple of crosses during the second half but that did not prove costly.
Maksym Talovierov 8 STAR MAN - The no-nonsense Ukraine international defender was ideally suited to what turned out to be a very physical and increasingly feisty game with his strong tackling and aerial power. He also put the latter to good effect when he soared above Luton's Amari'i Bell to head home Argyle's 70th minute equaliser in front of the 1,300-strong travelling Green Army.

Nikola Katic 7 - Will have been disappointed with his part in Luton's 55th minute opening goal, when substitute Jacob Brown nipped in front of him to score with a close range header. Otherwise, though, he showed his determination, experience and defensive ability to deal with everything else that Luton could throw at the Pilgrims.
Victor Palsson 7 - Was beaten to the ball when Alfie Doughty's cross was nodded down by Lasse Nordas for Jacob Brown to put Luton ahead. That one moment apart, Palsson produced another solid defensive display as he built on his much-improved recent form under Miron Muslic.
Matty Sorinola 6 - It got to the stage in the second half where it felt like Luton were targeting Argyle's right wing-back with diagonal balls to try to exploit the height advantage their players had over him so Miron Muslic replaced him with Kornel Szucs as part of a 66th minute double substitution.
Adam Randell 7 - Battled and scrapped all game, winning more than his fair share of headers in and around the Argyle penalty area despite the size of many of the Luton players. However, Randell was unable to get forward much given the way the game went.
Jordan Houghton 6 - Houghton and Darko Gyabi have been taking it in turns to play alongside Adam Randell in recent matches. This time it was Houghton, who played from start to finish in what proved to be a pretty abrasive game of football and he was not afraid to get stuck in when he needed to.
Tymoteusz Puchacz 6 - Has been giving Argyle good balance in the left wing-back position, and combined well with Victor Palsson when it came to defensive duties against Luton but it was not the sort of match where Puchacz could break forward too often.
Callum Wright 6 - Unfortunate to have what would have been his first goal since April 2023 wrongly disallowed for offside when he ran onto an excellent pass from Tymoteusz Puchacz and managed to get the ball past advancing Luton 'keeper Thomas Kaminski into the net.
Rami Al Hajj 5 - With Ryan Hardie ruled by a back injury, Al Hajj was brought into the team as one of the two number 10s, alongside Callum Wright, but he could not make much of a contribution from an attacking perspective and struggled at times with the physicality of Luton. Was taken off shortly after the hour mark.
Mustapha Bundu 5 - Has had some good recent games as a target man leading the attack but he was a little too isolated against Luton, making it fairly easy for them to deal with him, as Argyle lacked goal threat throughout the game.
SUBSTITUTES
Kornel Szucs 7 - Made an important impact as a 62nd minute substitute for Matty Sorinola at right wing-back. His extra height came in very useful as Luton repeatedly put crosses into the Argyle penalty area, but Szucs also came up with the assist for Maksym Talovierov's 70th minute equaliser with a terrific deep cross.
Muhamed Tijani 5 - Was sent on for Rami Al Hajj in the 62nd minute, with Mustapha Bundu dropping into a number 10 role and Tijani leading the attack. However, as Bundu had already found out, it was very difficult for Tijani to test the Hatters' defence given the limited service he got, while when he did get the ball his first touch often let him down.
Darko Gyabi - An 87th minute substitute for Callum Wright and lined up in front of Adam Randell and Jordan Houghton to give Argyle an extra defensive layer for the closing stages of the game, which included eight extra minutes at the end of the second half.
Substitutes (not used): Dan Grimshaw, Bali Mumba, Nathanael Ogbeta, Michael Obafemi, Malachi Boateng, Michael Baidoo.
