Plymouth Argyle have agreed a deal to take Poland international left-back Tymoteusz Puchacz on loan from German Bundesliga club Holstein Kiel, according to media reports in Europe.

Sky Sport Germany reporter Dennis Bayer posted on X (Twitter) last night that all parties had agreed to the move, which would be until the end of the season. He added that FC Kaiserslautern had been interested in re-signing Puchacz.

The 25-year-old made 31 appearances on loan to Kaiserslautern from Union Berlin last season as they finished in 13th position in German Bundesliga 2. Kaiserslautern also reached the final of the DFB-Pokal (German Cup) in May when Puchacz played at left-back in a 1-0 defeat by Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen in front of almost 75,000 fans at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.

His impending loan move to Argyle was also reported on by Warsaw-based journalist Tomasz Wlodarczyk. He posted on Twitter last night: "Today Puchacz flew to England. Tomorrow formalities in Plymouth."

Puchacz signed for newly-promoted Bundesliga side Holstein Kiel last summer on a contract until the summer of 2028 but has played only 10 times in the Bundesliga this season, starting five games and coming off the bench in the others.

Left-back has been a problem position for Argyle all season, with Bali Mumba often playing out of position on that side of the pitch, so an experienced, international calibre player such as Puchacz, who has played 15 times for Poland, would undoubtedly strengthen the squad for whoever the next head coach is.

Puchacz was part of Poland's squad for the 2024 European Championship in Germany but was an unused substitute for their three group games as they failed to advance to the knockout stages. He last played for Holstein Kiel as a substitute in a 3-1 defeat away to FC St Pauli on November 29.
