Popular Hull City player makes bold claim amid Tigers' battle to avoid Championship relegation
The stats would argue Hull City have produced better performances than their results have suggested at times so far this season. It the that hope that the Tigers are clinging to as they head into the final 20 games of what has been a season to forget so far.
The struggling Tigers have managed just five wins all season and go to Millwall this weekend knowing victory would be a real shot in the arm to their hopes of surviving in the Championship in early May. They go the the capital buoyed by their positive outing last time out in the league against Leeds United.
Popular midfielder Regan Slater, who skippered City in their FA Cup defeat on penalties to Doncaster Rovers last Sunday, feels the squad, which has since been boosted by the arrivals of Matt Crooks, Joe Gelhardt and Nordin Amrabat, has more to offer than we've seen so far. But recognises the only way out of the mess they've got themselves into is by winning matches, something they just haven't done enough of to date.

Since new head coach Ruben Selles arrived, City have won two, drawn two and lost three of his seven games. But bar Coventry were they were really poor, despite taking the lead, defeats at Preston on Boxing Day and then Middlesbrough on New Year's Day should not have happened, something Slater admits.
Draws against Watford and Leeds, with wins over Swansea and Blackburn Rovers in that run have given glimpses of what City can produce under Selles. Yet they must now find some consistency going into a three-game week which ends with a testing trip to promotion hopefuls Sheffield United next Friday evening with a home clash against in-form QPR sandwiched in on Tuesday.
"We've still got the fact that we had a great point against Leeds in the league. Two tough games before that as well, so I think four points from the three games that we had was, was a really good outcome," Slater mused.
"It was on us as well; the Middlesbrough one should have been another point, at least. Our form is not actually too bad if you look at it properly, so we're just going to go into the game wanting to win it.
"Yeah, I think so (it's about survival). I think we obviously just need to concentrate on trying to win games and get out of this current situation that we're in because I feel like he's a really good manager, and I feel like the group will come together nicely. We've got a lot more to offer than what we're showing league table-wise."
