Portsmouth are not looking to advance interest in Reading star Harvey Knibbs, according to reports.

The 25-year-old has 10 goals for the Royals so far this season, but reports linked the former Cambridge United man with a Championship move.

Oxford United, Derby County and Portsmouth have all been linked with the former Aston Villa youngster, but reports coming out of Fratton Park have cooled fears of his exit.

According to the Portsmouth News: "Pompey are not looking to advance a move for Reading’s Harvey Knibbs - as they focus their transfer interest on other attacking options."

The report further states that 'there is some doubt about the former Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa academy youngster being able to impact the second tier at this stage.'

BBC Solent posed the transfer of Knibbs to manager John Mousinho following their defeat to Sunderland, but the former defender refused to comment on other clubs' players.

There are concerns both internally and externally regarding Reading's ability to keep talent in the January transfer window, but manager Noel Hunt is adamant that all efforts will be made to keep the squad together and continue their unexpected push for promotion.
