Premier League: Eva Carneiro demands public apology from Jose Mourinho as part of her Chelsea settlement

Ex-Chelsea doctor Eva Carneiro is locked in negotiations with the club over her sacking
as she seeks a public apology from former manager Jose Mourinho, her lawyer revealed today.

And the two sides are "far apart financially" according to her barrister Mary O'Rourke.

The first team doctor is claiming constructive dismissal and discrimination after she was sidelined over a row with the then manager Jose Mourinho.

She was criticised for running on to the field with physio Jon Fearn to treat injured player Eden Hazard during a 2-2 draw with Swansea last August in their first games of the season.

Mourinho said the medical team were "impulsive and naive" because their actions left the team with only nine players on the field because goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was sent off.

Carneiro left the club in December and launched her legal action claiming she was unfairly treated.

Carneiro was dressed all black as she arrived at a judicial mediation hearing held at Croydon Employment Tribunal today (Mon) that is being held in private and has been running since 10am.

Her barrister, Mary O'Rourke said: "We are not expecting a resolution today.

"The two sides are so far apart financially. And we want Mr Mourinho to make a public apology."

If Mourinho, Carneiro and Chelsea do not agree a settlement at the two-day judicial mediation hearing a full employment tribunal will be held in public, expected to be heard in June, but the parties can settle at any point prior to the court date.

Carneiro appeared at a previous preliminary hearing in January but no settlement was reached.

Mourinho, who was cleared of using discriminatory words by the FA towards the 42-year-old, was not present at the hearing, but would likely be called as a witness should it go to a full hearing.
