The Premier League have revealed that Manchester United's second goal against Fulham was disallowed due to Amad being in an offside position.

The Ivorian thought he had moved into double figures for the campaign as he danced through the Cottagers defence before sliding the ball home to, seemingly, add gloss on a hard-earned win for United.

However, after deliberation, the Video Assistant Referee ruled that Amad was offside in the build-up and referee Anthony Taylor chalked off the goal.

It proved to have no bearing on the result with United returning to winning ways thanks to Lisandro Martinez's deflected effort 12 minutes from time.

In a tweet, the Premier League Match Centre wrote: "Amad’s goal was initially awarded on-field. VAR checked and established that Amad was in an offside position in the build-up and recommended that the goal was disallowed."

United had to work hard to pick up their eighth win of the league campaign after failing to break down Marco Silva's side throughout the contest.

However, the Argentine stood up to be the hero after his effort looped over Bernd Leno to pick up the points.

Fulham squandered good chances in the dying embers and Joachim Andersen saw his header cleared off the line after a superb piece of defending from substitute Toby Collyer.

Amad found the back of the net moments after Rodrigo Muniz blazed over from 10 yards but VAR denied the 22-year-old the opportunity to rubber-stamp an important win.

United move to within four points of Fulham, who sit in tenth, and are back in action as they round off their Europa League League Phase away at Steau Bucharest.

They will then host Crystal Palace on Sunday (February 2).
