The Premier League has confirmed why Nikola Milenkovic’s goal against Southampton was disallowed.

Milenkovic thought he had made it 4-1 to Forest with a header from an Anthony Elanga free-kick in the second half. Referee Anthony Taylor awarded the goal, but was sent to his pitchside monitor by VAR before overturning his original decision.

Premier League Match Centre posted a statement on social media platform X, saying: “The referee’s call of goal was checked by VAR, who deemed that Wood interfered with play after coming from an offside position. After an on-field review, the referee overturned the original decision and the goal was disallowed.”
