Premier League release VAR statement during Chelsea vs Bournemouth after David Brooks incident
The Premier League were forced to release a VAR statement in the second half of Chelsea's clash against Bournemouth after an incident involving David Brooks. With the game tightly-poised after Justin Kluivert cancelled out Cole Palmer's opener, referee Rob Jones was required to make a huge red card decision.
After Robert Sanchez caught a floated free-kick, Marc Cucurella sprinted out of his defensive position in an attempt to start a counter-attack but he was thrown to the floor by Brooks. The flashpoint was seemingly sparked by an earlier clash involving the pair where Brooks was fouled by Cucurella.
For the controversial incident, as he was running at speed, Cucurella unsurprisingly fell to the floor with Jones then pausing the game as VAR checked to see if it was an act of violent conduct.

With officials at Stockley Park spending a few minutes looking at the incident, the decision was made to send Jones over to the pitchside monitor in order to review the incident as a possible sending off.
Having looked at several clips of the collision, Jones deemed it was only worthy of a yellow card.
Swiftly following the decision, the Premier League Match Centre posted a statement to X explaining the though process.
"VAR recommended an on-field review for a possible red card to Brooks for violent conduct," a statement read.
"Upon review, the referee deemed that the challenge on Cucurella was a reckless action and not violent conduct – and issued a yellow card to Brooks."
With some surprised by Brooks being able to remain on the pitch, things nearly went from bad to worse for Chelsea as Levi Colwill appeared to pick up an injury.
The Blues defender was able to carry on but just moments later Antoine Semenyo smashed in the game's third goal to put the Cherries in front with just over 20 minutes remaining.
