Mikel Arteta will hope Arsenal can pick up from where they left off this weekend. Brighton will host the Gunners at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon as they both look to climb the Premier League table.

On Thursday night, Arsenal came from behind to defeat Brentford in a four-goal thriller. The north Londoners have now won each of their last four games across all competitions, and they remain unbeaten in 12.

This month, Arteta will be eager to capitalise on his side's great momentum and narrow Liverpool's lead in the title race. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal news and transfer gossip.

Aston Villa eye former Arsenal wonderkid

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa have held talks with Borussia Dortmund over a potential deal for Donyell Malen. The 25-year-old forward enjoyed two-years in the Arsenal academy as a youngster, leaving shortly before Unai Emery replaced Arsene Wenger in the dugout.

The report states that the Spaniard wants to sign a new winger this month, so Malen has been identified as a priority target. The Dutchman has struggled for minutes this season, so Dortmund are open to selling him in the January transfer window.

The Telegraph claim he's been priced at £25m. Malen worked closely with Thierry Henry at London Colney, and, in an interview with BBC Sport, he was among several stars that were tipped to go the furthest, with Bukayo Saka not viewed to be on the same level.

football.london says: "This could be a super signing for Aston Villa if he can hit the ground running. With Bukayo Saka nursing an injury, I'm surprised that Arsenal haven't considered swooping in for the former academy prospect."

Arsenal urged to wrap up Isak deal

Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to 'break the bank' and sign Alexander Isak. Speaking on Sky Sports, the Gunners legend said: "If I were Arsenal, and I had the money I’d go out and buy Isak. I’d break the bank for him. I think he’s the best of the best and I think he takes Arsenal to another level.

"I’m looking at the all-round picture and I’m looking at next season as well. I think if he can get hold of Isak, who I think is the best in the business at the moment, I think that will be a massive coup for Arsenal."

Merson added: "The way Arsenal play I would have to go with Isak [over Erling Haaland]. He probably suits Arsenal more than Haaland."

football.london says: "Arsenal should've pushed to sign Alexander Isak in the summer! The Gunners need to be more proactive with their recruitment rather than reactive. It was obvious that Mikel Arteta needed a top striker to lead his line."

Arsenal plot Bayern Munich raid

According to German newspaper Bild on Thursday, as quoted by Daily Cannon, Joshua Kimmich remains a target for Arsenal. The 29-year-old midfielder faces an uncertain future at Bayern Munich, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

The report states that Kimmich spent the festive period debating his future at the Allianz Arena with his family ahead of a potential free transfer at the end of the season. It's said that Manchester City, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are ready to present the Germany international with formal offers.

Bild adds that Leroy Sane, who's also set to leave Bayern Munich in the summer once his contract expires, has also attracted interest from Arsenal. However, it's believed that the former Manchester City winger is willing to take a 20 per cent wage-reduction to stay with the German giants.

football.london says: "Joshua Kimmich and Leroy Sane on free transfers would be sensational business for Arsenal. Two top players."
