Premier League table 2023-24: Latest standings, fixtures and results as Liverpool win

The Premier League title race continues apace with this midweek round of games.

Liverpool went back to the top of the Premier League table with a hard-fought 3-1 win victory over Sheffield United before, further down the table, Chelsea beat Manchester United in historic fashion, coming from 3-2 down in injury time to win 4-3 in the 101st minute.

Arsenal were without Bukayo Saka, absent from the squad through injury, but still made easy work of Luton, winning 2-0 to return to the top of the table before Liverpool are in action on Thursday.

Manchester City were also without key players as Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were left on the bench for the champions’ 4-1 thumping of Aston Villa, which saw Phil Foden score a stunning hat-trick.

The action started on Tuesday when Everton drew at Newcastle and Nottingham Forest brushed aside Fulham in key games in the battle to survive. Burnley drew with Wolves, Crystal Palace lost at Bournemouth and, in the later kick-off, West Ham held Tottenham in a London derby.

Along with the Arsenal and Man City games on Wednesday, Brighton drew with Brentford in a drab affair.
