LESS than a week into the new year, Luke 'The Nuke' Littler has been installed as bookmakers’ favourite to win the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

This follows him clinching his first PDC World Championship title.

The 17-year-old Warringtonian, who was runner up to Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson in the 2024 awards but went home with the young prize, is the 6/4 favourite for the 2025 honour.

His odds have shortened from 3/1 and ‘The Nuke’ is ahead of F1 duo Lando Norris (9/2) and Lewis Hamilton (12/1) as well as England women’s international Lucy Bronze (14/1) in Betfred’s odds.

Betfred’s Robert Ford said: “After an exceptional 10-set victory over Michael van Gerwen, Luke Littler now has a 40 per cent chance of clinching the Sports Personality of the Year Award in 2025.

“The current holder of the Young Sports Personality of the Year gong, Luke is the favourite to win the main prize at 6/4.

“Littler’s closely followed by Lando Norris, who’s well placed at 9/2, and it could be a very close race between the pair if Norris can come out on top of the F1 Drivers Championship ahead of Max Verstappen, but at this moment in time, it’s Luke’s to lose.”
