Former Manchester United first-team coach Benni McCarthy has congratulated Amad after he put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.

United announced on Thursday that the Ivorian had signed a new deal, keeping him at the club until 2030. Amad has been United's best player so far this season. He has excelled under head coach Ruben Amorim, scoring three goals and registering five assists since the Portuguese chief's arrival in November.

Tied down until 2030, Amad, who has played 28 times for United so far this season, has ambitions of making history at Old Trafford, insisting he is "ready to give everything to help the team".

The versatile attacker took to Instagram to celebrate signing a new deal and he quickly attracted thousands of congratulatory messages, including one from McCarthy, who worked at Old Trafford between July 2022 and June 2024.

"A very big congratulations, my brother, you earned your new contract and I'm so happy and proud of you," McCarthy wrote. "Continue the brilliant work you [are] doing."

Amad, 22, has contributed six goals and seven assists for United across all competitions so far this season, with his latest strike coming in last Sunday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.

United technical director Jason Wilcox is excited to see how the former Sunderland loanee's future unfolds, saying: "Everyone is delighted with Amad’s development; his quality on the ball, versatility and determination makes him a key part of the future of Manchester United.

"The best years of his career are ahead of him, and we all look forward to helping Amad to reach his immense potential and achieve success at the club in the coming seasons."
