Paris Saint-Germain has already swooped in with a hefty bid to secure the services of Liverpool-admired Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The Georgian sensation might be departing Napoli this month, potentially marking one of the standout transfers of the January window.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, there hasn't been any official approach from Liverpool to Napoli about Kvaratskhelia this month. However, the Reds have had their eyes on the winger since he burst onto the scene as one of Serie A's most exciting prospects, and they've been keen on him for quite some time.

Chelsea is another Premier League club linked with an interest in nabbing Kvaratskhelia, but it seems PSG is the leading contender for his signature. The French giant had set its sights on signing Kvaratskhelia last summer but was unable to seal the deal.

"Paris Saint-Germain started a concrete attack for Kvaratskhelia. That was an exclusive update but it doesn't mean that a deal is done. It means that Paris Saint-Germain are in negotiations with Napoli," transfer guru Fabrizio Romano in a recent YouTube update.

The Italian journalist reports that the French club and Napoli are in direct talks, with the player's representatives also engaging with those in Paris. It's suggested they're prepared to quintuple his current €2.0m (£1.6m) annual salary. Romano further detailed how the bosses at Parc de Prince have been keen on Kvaratskhelia since as early as May last year.

"Before the start of the summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain presented a proposal to Napoli sent by the agent of Victor Osimhen, who was in an excellent relationship with Paris Saint-Germain. A proposal worth €210m (£176.1m) — €200m guaranteed, €10m in add-ons for both Kvaratskhelia and Osimhen.

"So, Paris Saint-Germain wanted to sign even before the beginning of the market in May 2024. Napoli said no, Kvaratskhelia is not for sale, Osimhen's situation took all summer and we all know what happened — he joined Galatasaray [on loan]. Now it is more than six months so Kvaratskhelia has a shorter contract with Napoli, the salary situation is not fixed and so Paris Saint-Germain are back to the table but with different conditions."

According to the latest update, Napoli is demanding $82m (£67m/€80m) to release Kvaratskhelia from his contract in Italy, which is set to run until 2027. Similar to rumors surrounding Liverpool's potential use of Federico Chiesa as a bargaining chip in a deal, PSG is said to be trying to incorporate center-back Milan Skriniar into their negotiations. However, Napoli is hesitant about his permanent signing due to wage concerns, leading to ongoing discussions as January progresses.

Liverpool.com says: PSG appears to be leading the way for Kvaratskhelia, who would be an excellent signing for any top club. The 23-year-old should pick the Reds, if it came to it, with Arne Slot's side operating at a higher level to PSG at the moment.
