Pundit questions Leeds United's transfer pursuit of Nottingham Forest player with 'upgrade' jibe
Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman has expressed his reservations over the prospect of Leeds United signing Nottingham Forest defender Andrew Omobamidele.
A report in The Sun says the Whites have opened talks with the Premier League club over adding Omobamidele to their ranks in the January transfer window.
Omobamidele is a familiar face to United boss Daniel Farke, having played under the German at Norwich City. Farke handed Omobamidele his first Premier League start back in 2021.

The Republic of Ireland international secured a £10million move to the City Ground in 2023 but the defender has only played 11 times across all competitions. Sheffield United are also in the market for a centre-back following Harry Souttar's serious Achilles injury and have been credited with an interest in Omobamidele.
Goodman told Plejmo.com: "Daniel Farke knows Andrew Omobamidele and he was a decent Championship defender at Norwich. However, he's not cut it at Nottingham Forest and I'm not sure he's an upgrade on what Leeds United have currently got and whether they really need him for depth.
"It's an interesting link. Daniel Farke knows him better than I do and if Omobamidele does sign it will be down to the manager knowing what he's capable of."
Despite kicking off 2025 with successive draws to Blackburn Rovers and Hull City, the Whites lead the way at the top of the Championship. But Burnley, Sheffield United and Sunderland all won over the weekend to remain hot on their heels in the race to go up.
Goodman said: "I still think Leeds will win the title but will they run away with it? Probably not.
"They don't have a massive cushion at this stage and I had a look at Burnley's next fixtures given that they're on a 13-game unbeaten run. They play Sunderland at home, Plymouth away and Leeds at home in the league. If they can get through those three games unscathed, you'd have to say they'll give Leeds a run for their money. That's because their unbeaten run has included four games against top-six teams and nine against teams in the top-half. It doesn't feel like they're going away anytime soon.
"Whereas Leeds have won three and drawn three from their last six. They're not quite in top gear. If Burnley can get one over Sunderland and Leeds, they're definitely in the title mix."
