MANAGER Ivan Juric hopes his side's 3-0 win over Swansea City in the FA Cup third round can be "a new beginning" for struggling Saints.

The St Mary's outfit booked their place in the fourth round of the cup for the sixth season in succession by rolling over their Championship challengers.

Up next are back-to-back away visits to Man United and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, with their situation increasingly dire.

Saints are bottom of the division having picked up just six points from 20 matches and look doomed to relegation by the end of May.

Kamaldeen Sulemana ended a 37-game goal drought and Tyler Dibling scored twice as Saints registered a first win under Juric on Sunday.

"I'm very happy, very satisfied. I think we did one good game. I saw lots of good things, a few not such good, but we are very pleased," said Juric.

"I am happy, it's okay for us. I think we created a lot of chances. We conceded only one in the last minute of the game.

"I'm not happy about that because we have to be focused all the game. But I think we created lots of chances, scored three goals and we are happy."

Juric added: "We need confidence. We need this moment to see that we can do things. I think there are lots of things to do better.

"Now we have four days to prepare for the game against Manchester United. I hope it's a new beginning. Today we did a good game.

"It's the FA Cup and now we want to prepare well to play against Man United to be more competitive in their last game at home and I think we can do it.

"I think we have quality. We can do it much better in some moments. I think against Fulham, West Ham and Crystal Palace we were very competitive.

"I expect that against Manchester United and then there are details and moments where we have to be better," concluded the 49 year old.

Saints have been drawn to face Championship promotion hopefuls Burnley in the fourth round, with ties set to be played over the weekend of February 8.

"It's better to play here than go to Burnley," said Juric. I watched a lot of Swansea and I was scared a little bit about the game because they play very well.

"If you are not precise and not pressed well, you have problems. Against Burnley, last year they were in the Premier League and it will be a tougher match."
