Radinio Balker delivers brutal Huddersfield Town verdict ahead of Birmingham City challenge
Huddersfield Town defender Radinio Balker acknowledged that his side “need to work on” how they break teams down after coming up short in their 1-0 defeat to Bolton Wanderers.
The Terriers had 67 per cent possession and 14 shots against the Trotters, but only registered one shot on target in Saturday’s loss at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Town were made to pay for their ineffectiveness in attack as Aaron Collins struck a 55th-minute winner to end the hosts’ lengthy unbeaten run in League One.

Balker, who made his first start since March in the defeat, believes his side have found games like Saturday’s encounter the “most difficult” types to face during the season to date.
Reflecting on his return to the side and the loss, the centre-back told BBC Radio Leeds: “I hoped to have a different impact than a loss, but it is what it is. I’m happy to be back, hopefully next game I can help the team to a win.
“I felt like we weren’t on it today, especially the quality on the ball wasn’t good enough. It had nothing to really do with the running or anything else. We won plenty of duels, it was just on the ball we weren’t good enough, not clean enough, and we didn’t really create big chances or anything.
“We had a lot of ball, but didn’t really do much with it, so I feel like that’s something we need to work on for the next game, and at the [other] end also defend better.
“That’s something we need to prepare for (teams sitting in), we know that this can happen in our own house. The only games that we didn’t have that maybe is like Stockport and Blackpool, the rest was all sitting in and we had to do something with the ball. It’s something we definitely need to work on, because those games are the most difficult for us I’ve seen.”
Saturday’s defeat ended a 16-match unbeaten streak for Town in League One, with the result leaving them fourth in the division, on 48 points from 26 matches played.
Next up for the Terriers is a home clash with league leaders Birmingham City tomorrow night. Balker added: “We need to analyse what went wrong (against Bolton), and hopefully Birmingham will be a different game.”
