Tottenham have already made their first move in the January transfer window and more deals are set to follow. Antonin Kinsky joined the club from Slavia Prague in a £12.5million deal and the goalkeeper shone in a fine debut against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg on Wednesday night.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping to make more signings and even intimated that another deal was close during his press conference ahead of the Liverpool game.

He said: "Hopefully in the very near future we get some help for him [Dominic Solanke] and then I think we’ll see him go to another level." When pushed on whether help meant players coming back from injury or new signings, Postecoglou added: "Both. It's hopefully what we can do but I wouldn't suggest tomorrow.

"Not a centre-forward but I think we need some help in the front half if we can get it. Obviously Wilson [Odobert]'s still a fair way off, Richy's coming back but we've got to be really careful with him, we've got to try to keep him back. Again, it's got to be the right fit. Is that going to happen this window? I'm not sure but we know that all being well, in seven days, Richy's back and he'll definitely help Dom for sure."

Randal Kolo Muani has been a name heavily linked in the past few days and discussions have been had over completing a loan deal with an option to buy with Paris Saint-Germain.

football.london also understands there is an interest from Spurs' side in Manchester United star Marcus Rashford, whose future appears to be away from Old Trafford. There have yet to be discussions over a deal to sign him, however.

One or both of those signings would certainly strengthen Spurs' attacking options, but there are decisions to make at the back too, with Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven, Ben Davies and Destiny Udogie all still sidelined with injury.

There is no suggestion that any defensive deals are close, although look at the Kinsky move and that for Wilson Odobert last summer, both of which came out of nowhere and were completed in double quick time. Tottenham could very well be closing in on a defensive signing too, without us knowing. Former Chelsea star Fikayo Tomori has been linked, having fallen out of favour at AC Milan, while Milan Skriniar at Inter Milan is another name making news.

Then there's the midfield, which is another area football.london understands Postecoglou would ideally like to strengthen this month. And January then becomes extremely busy.
