The Rangers January transfer hurdle Philippe Clement must clear to cut cloth accordingly
Barry Ferguson knows Rangers still need to cut their wage bill this January.
Cyriel Dessers is one of the higher earners and finds himself behind Danilo and Hamze Iagamane in the pecking order, and is one of the prime candidates to move. Kieran Dowell's game time is also limited and is another of the Michael Beale rebuild new boys who have struggled to make the required impact.
Young fringe men such as Alex Lowry and Adam Devine have been told they can go if suitable offers come in. Fellow academy graduate Leon King could be sent on loan ans Philippe Clement tries to create space for new arrivals next month. However, Ferguson pointed out the main hurdle that must be overcome when trying to sell your wares midway through the season: "They obviously still have to cut the wage budget and still get a few higher earners off the wage bill," he told GO Radio. Then you're looking at guys who are round about the squad and not getting in the 18.

"I saw today young Devine and Lowry, and maybe even Leon King going out on loan. I'm sure they will be trying but it's easy to say you want to get it done. Clubs need to want these players.
"I'm sure they'll try their best to do a bit of work and help the manager, because he'll want to bring in one or two to go and strengthen. I always think it's important in the windows to bring a couple of new guys in. You walk through the dressing room door and think theres more competition for places.
