Rangers pile on misery for Sir Jim Ratcliffe as Man Utd not the only headache for INEOS supremo

Rangers pile on misery for Sir Jim Ratcliffe as Man Utd not the only headache for INEOS supremo

It's not just Manchester United that Sir Jim Ratcliffe has to worry about - with Nice being plunged into crisis mode after Rangers ran riot in the Europa League.

While the INEOS supremo has been forced to show the door to Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford this season, serious questions now face Allianz RIviera boss Franck Haise after the Scottish Premiership side demolished the Ligue 1 side on their own turf in the Europa League. A Hamza Igamane double alongside goals from Vaclav Cerny and Mohamad Diomande led to Rangers taking a massive step towards the knockout stage of the competition - while Badredine Bouanani offered little consolation with his late strike.

In truth, it could have been much worse for Nice who now look to be heading out of Europe's second tier competition. Haise was only appointed in the summer alongside sporting director Florian Maurice - but the pressure has now reached boiling point on the boss.

At the time of the appointments president Jean-Pierre Rivère talked up the bigger picture at the club: "The total alignment of the club’s senior executives, each in their own role, the commitment of [CEO] Fabrice [Bocquet] and the fluidity with which each team has operated has helped us to achieve our primary aim in this transfer window: to bring in a competent sporting director and manager, with great attributes as professionals and as people, who are ready to work together to bring success to the club."

The Manchester Evening News report that Ratcliffe was "delighted" with the team they have put in place at Nice "for what are the two most important roles in the club." However, after the nightmare showing against Philippe Clement's men he may be forced into a hasty rethink.
