Raging Rangers fans are adamant Mohamed Diomande was fouled by Nicolas Kuhn seconds before the German winger put Celtic 3-2 up at Hampden.

The Ibrox side lost out on penalties after an all-time classic League Cup final finished 3-3 and went all the way to spot-kicks. As ever when these two sides face, there were no shortage of debatable incidents, from a penalty claim against Liam Scales and shouts for handball after Jack Butland cut it fine on the edge of his box. But one that flew largely under the radar, but is now being hotly debated on social media, was a perceived 'trip' by Kuhn on Diomande.

The Rangers midfielder was tracking back when he appeared to make contact with Kuhn as he checked his run on the edge of the box. Diomande loses his balance and goes down before the ball comes back to Kuhn, free as a bird around the penalty spot, to slot home on 86 minutes and put Celtic, seemingly, on the verge of glory.

There wasn't much time for pontificating in the moment - 20 seconds of football later, Rangers were level again with Danilo heading in to take it to extra time. But social media sleuths have since poured over the footage, and Gers fans are unhappy they didn't get a free-kick. One said: "Looks like Kuhn stands on Diomande’s foot here, causing him to fall and Kuhn be free in the box. Accidental or not, this leads to the goal, surely it should be looked at?"

And another punter added: "Their third goal, Diomande was fouled on the breakaway. He would have been in the same area as Kuhn when the ball came in. We have seen goals chopped off for less in this fixture too."
