Rangers XI predicted as bare bones backline polar opposite to forward switch-ups
At least it's straight forward for Philippe Clement.
The Rangers boss is so short of defensive options for the trip to Dundee that his back line virtually picks itself. It was already known there would be no return for the likes of John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and goalkeeper Jack Butland. But Clement also confirmed that Leon Balogun and skipper James Tavernier are out, with the captain set to sit out the weekend fixture against St Johnstone as well.
Dujon Sterling remains a doubt after coming off with a knock during the 3-3 draw with Hibs so it really is bare bones time. Luckily, Sky Sports got it wrong when they claimed Robin Propper would miss out against the Dark Blues through suspension so Clement will at least have the Dutchman to call upon against Tony Docherty's men. But aside from him, it's a case of whichever bodies are available to make up the back four.
Ridvan Yilmaz will need to continue deputising at right back either way. If Sterling is passed fit, he'll be required in the middle alongside Propper. If not, then the likes of Leon King or Clinton Nsiala could be called upon for a top team stint at centre back.
Further forward, there is at least room for manoeuvre. Hamza Igamane has to start after bagging a hat-trick at Easter Road, although there could be rotation behind him with the games coming thick and fast.
Connor Barron will come in for Nico Raskin, who is suspended, while Oscar Cortes could do with more minutes. If he's deemed worthy of a start, then Ianis Hagi may move infield with Nedim Bajrami dropping to the bench.
