What Raphinha did in El Clasico as ex-Leeds United star responds to 'urgent' meeting
Former Leeds United star Raphinha had an El Clasico to remember for Barcelona on Sunday night.
The Brazilian swapped Elland Road for the Nou Camp in 2022 for a fee believed to be £55million where he signed a five-year deal. Raphinha spent two years with the West Yorkshire outfit, scoring 17 goals and registering 12 assists in 67 outings for the club.
The 28-year-old has netted twice for Barca against rivals Real Madrid in their 5-2 Spanish Super Cup victory at the weekend. It represents a second trophy for Raphinha in Catalonia after winning the La Liga title two seasons ago.
His performance against Los Blancos comes after he is said to have demanded an 'urgent’ meeting ahead of the game. The story emerged after Barca boss Hansi Flick received a text message from staff member Arnau Blanco.

According to Marca, the message read: "Coach, Araujo and Raphinha want to speak with you." A report from Mundo Deportivo later clarified that Araujo and Raphinha, as Barcelona’s second and fourth captains, respectively, sought the meeting to discuss an internal organisational matter.
Raphinha has previously had nothing but good things to say about the Whites and ex-Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa when asked about his time at Elland Road. However, he also explained why a switch to Barcelona was the only possible outcome when then Barca boss Xavi came calling.
“I was very happy wearing the Leeds shirt,” he told Brazilian outlet UOL in 2022. “I worked with Bielsa, a very demanding guy who welcomed me with open arms. in fact, I enjoy working with demanding people.
“With him, we knew there was time to play, yes, but only during training breaks, because in the field the bug catches. The Premier League is a league of quality players, but even so, I managed to do what I love most: dribbling.
“In training I’m more restrained, I don’t dribble my teammates. I try to do the basics, focus more on the tactical and save everything for the game, which is when it actually tastes better. The markers were difficult, but with my magic I managed to do a few things on the field.”
