With the transfer window now shut, we have taken a closer look at the business across League One and which clubs will be happiest.

Barnsley

Signings: Neil Farrugia, Joe Gauci (loan), Dexter Lembikisa (loan), Clement Rodrigues (loan)

Rating: 6 – Gambled on unproven signings at this level when they arguably needed options who can hit the ground running to climb back up the table.

Birmingham

Signings: Grant Hanley, Kieran Dowell (loan), Lee Myung-jae

Rating: 7 - Let’s be honest, they didn’t need to do any business! But Dowell and Myung-jae are interesting additions and Hanley will bring vital experience to the dressing room.

Blackpool

Signings: Tom Bloxham, Sammy Silvera (loan), Niall Ennis (loan)

Rating: 7 – Tom Bloxham and Niall Ennis are positive additions to Steve Bruce’s attacking ranks. If the latter can rediscover his form from Plymouth’s title winning season, the Seasiders are in for a treat.

Bolton

Signings: Joel Randall, Alex Murphy (loan), Kion Etete (loan)

Rating: 7 - Joel Randall brings quality and landing Alex Murphy on loan was a coup. Kion Etete fits the profile of what Wanderers have arguably been lacking in the final third but missed a lot of football through injury, and there has been plenty of debate over Dion Charles’ departure.

Bristol Rovers

Signings: Romaine Sawyers, Matt Butcher (loan), Myles Roberts (loan), Michael Reindorf (loan), Sil Swinkels (loan)

Rating: 6 – Matt Butcher is a solid signing but losing goalkeeper Josh Griffiths, who was recalled by West Brom, was a blow on deadline day.

Burton

Signings: Jon Dadi Bodvarsson, James Jones, Kyran Lofthouse (loan), JJ McKiernan (loan), Owen Dodgson (loan), Fabia Tavares (loan)

Rating: 8 - Some excellent business by the Brewers, who have had a big upturn in form under Gary Bowyer. Jon Dadi Bodvarsson still has plenty of quality at this level and Owen Dodgson’s crossing is a dangerous weapon.

Signings: Marko Marosi, Dom Ballard (loan), Esapa Osong (loan), Ben Stevenson, Nathan Bishop (loan)

Rating: 6 - Marko Marosi looked a great pick-up but with the goalkeeper now injured, Garry Monk has called upon Nathan Bishop. England U20 striker Dom Ballard is also a wildcard. It remains to be seen whether the business will be enough to keep the U’s up.

Charlton

Signings: Tom McIntyre (loan), Alex Gilbert (loan)

Rating: 6 – Haven’t been busy, although it could be argued the Addicks didn’t need to do much given their recent form and march towards the top six.

Crawley

Signings: Liam Fraser, Ben Radcliffe, Rory Feely, Matthew Cox (loan), Kamari Doyle (loan)

Rating: 6 - Five new additions at Crawley as they battle against the drop, but losing Ronan Darcy to Wigan will be a big miss.

Exeter

Signings: Joel Colwill (loan), Tony Yogane (loan), Alex Hartridge (loan), Angus MacDonald, Ed Turns, Andrew Oluwabori, Ryan Trevitt (loan)

Rating: 6 – A busy month at St James Park but it will be tough to replace Millenic Alli following his Luton switch.

Huddersfield

Signings: Ruben Roosken, Joe Taylor, Dion Charles, Tawanda Chirewa (loan)

Rating: 8 – Signal of intent from the Terriers. Joel Taylor and Dion Charles are big signings on paper, but there is a debate to be had over whether the pair suit Michael Duff’s style of play and can be an effective pairing.

Leyton Orient

Signings: Dilan Markanday (loan), Azeem Abdulai, Sonny Perkins, Rarmani Edmonds-Green, Randell Williams

Rating: 8 - A couple of exciting young signings in Dilan Markanday and Sonny Perkins, while Randell Williams has the ability to make his mark at Brisbane Road if he can get a consistent run of games under his belt.

Lincoln

Signings: Sam Clucas, James Collins, Joe Gardner (loan)

Rating: 6 - Not the most glamorous window but adding the experience of James Collins and Sam Clucas could be a boost to the dressing room as the Imps aim to gain ground on the play-off pack.

Mansfield

Jordan Rhodes was one of the moves on deadline day (Image: PA) Signings: Matthew Craig (loan), Jordan Rhodes (loan), Caylan Vickers (loan)

Rating: 6 - Jordan Rhodes certainly knows where the net is and could do a job for the Stags in the second half of the campaign. His experience balances a couple of young loan signings at Field Mill.

Northampton

Signings: Liam Shaw, Terry Taylor (loan), Ben Perry (loan), Dara Costelloe (loan)

Rating: 7 - The Cobblers managed to bring in Terry Taylor on loan despite interest from elsewhere, and Dara Costelloe could also prove to be an effective signing after impressing in a struggling Accrington side during the first half of the season.

Peterborough

Signings: Gustav Lindgren, Carl Johnston, Tayo Edun, Sam Hughes (loan), Joe Andrews

Rating: 6 - Any team in the division would miss Joel Randall and the business at London Road wasn’t quite as drastic as some expected after a poor season so far.

Reading

Signings: Billy Bodin (loan), Tyler Bindon (loan)

Rating: 5 - Sam Smith’s goals will be difficult to replace but, at the other end of the pitch, getting Tyler Bindon back on loan from Nottingham Forest was important for the Royals, who are still dealing with issues off the pitch.

Rotherham

Signings: Louie Sibley (loan), Dan Gore (loan), Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (loan)

Rating: 6 – A fairly quiet window, which was probably to be expected given the Millers’ improvement over the past couple of months. Dan Gore will be eager to show what he can do after bad luck with injury at Port Vale last term.

Shrewsbury

Signings: Callum Stewart, Dominic Gape, Ricardo Dinanga, Vadaine Oliver (loan)

Rating: 6 – Gareth Ainsworth says the club missed out on a couple of deadline day deals which might have made the window look different.

Stevenage

Signings: Brandon Hanlan (loan), Kyle Edwards

Rating: 6 – Not much activity at Stevenage but the club could still make a push for the play-offs if they make their games in hand count.

Stockport

Signings: Benony Breki Andresson, Micah Hamilton (loan), Owen Moxon, Sam Cosgrove (loan), Brad Hills (loan)

Rating: 7 - Losing Louie Barry was a massive blow but it seemed inevitable the youngster would be playing Championship football for the rest of the campaign. Benony Breki Andresson scored 21 goals in 26 games in the Icelandic top flight last season and Owen Moxon was effective at this level for Carlisle.

Wigan

Signings: Josh Robinson, Joseph Hungbo, Will Goodwin (loan), Jon Mellish, Oliver Norburn (loan), Ronan Darcy, Owen Dale (loan)

Rating: 7 - Thelo Aasgaard will be a big loss but his move gives Ronan Darcy a chance to grasp. Local lad Ollie Norburn also adds experience to the midfield.

Wrexham

Signings: Ryan Longman, Jay Rodriguez, Sam Smith

Rating: 8 - Sam Smith is a great bit of business as the Red Dragons aim to keep climbing the divisions and Jay Rodriguez’s arrival raised a few eyebrows. The question now is how will Phil Parkinson fit all these strikers into his squad?

Wycombe

Signings: Sonny Bradley (loan), Anders Hagelskjaer, Magnus Westergaard, James Berry, Caleb Taylor (loan), Xavier Simons (loan), Fin Back, Will Norris, Adam Reach, Alex Lowry

Rating: 8 - It was a busy month at Adams Park but the main bit of business was keeping hold of top scorer Richard Kone. Magnus Westergaard should help fill the void left behind by Aaron Morley and Caleb Taylor’s return on loan from West Brom was a boost.
