Ray Parlour left baffled by what West Ham have done with ex-Leeds United man Crysencio Summerville
It has been a desperately disappointing season so far for West Ham United and Crysenscio Summerville. Pressure is mounting on boss Julian Lopetegui to turn their fortunes around, with the Hammers languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.
Summerville, the standout player in the Championship players last term, left Leeds United in the summer after West Ham forked out £25m to lure the Dutchman away from Elland Road. The 23-year-old produced a series of eye-catching performances and was directly involved in 31 goals across all competitions as the Whites agonisingly missed out on promotion back to the top flight.
But Lopetegui has given Summerville limited game time this term. Summerville made just six league starts in the first half of the campaign.

Speaking on TalkSport, presenter Alan Brazil said: “He [Summerville] is one of them who gets you on the edge of your seat!” Former Arsenal and England midfielder Ray Parlour echoed Brazil's sentiments, saying: “He takes people on, his work-rate is very good – I’m surprised he doesn’t start more!"
Despite losing Summerville, Archie Gray, Georginio Rutter and Glen Kamara in the summer, United are in the thick of the promotion race. With 20 matches remaining, they sit top of the pile.
Parlour said: “I think Leeds will definitely go up automatically. I hope Leeds will go up because Elland Road is such a fantastic stadium and the atmosphere."
The Whites are back in action on Saturday when they entertain Harrogate Town in the FA Cup third round.
