Raymond van Barneveld clears air with darts rival who 'nicked' iconic Eye of the Tiger walkout song
Raymond van Barneveld has his Eye of the Tiger back after his darts walkout song was nicked by caught-out Croat Romeo Grbavac.
There was a bizarre controversy at the Paddy Power World Championship two days ago when the debutant was accused of robbing the Dutchman’s iconic walk-on song. Grbavac faced Callan Rydz and there were plenty of raised eyebrows when he headed to the stage to the tune of the Survivor classic.
Eye of the Tiger is, of course, the song linked to five-times champ Barney. The Dutchman raised a social-media eyebrow when it happened prompting a swift apology from the Croat, who thought he’d be entering to Eurovision hit Rim Tim Tagi Dim by Baby Lasagna. But issues meant that couldn’t be played and Eye of the Tiger belted out.

Grbavac messaged the champ and said: “Hello Barney, this song wasn’t my choice and I don’t know why they played.” Barney saw the funny side and posted an update which read: “Ok all is forgiven pal.” with a laughing emoji and thumbs up. The song will belt out as usual before he faces Nick Kenny tonight.
