Furious Celtic supporters have let rip at the Premiership champions over their aborted search to land a striker to replace their beloved Kyogo.

Raging diehards have voiced their simmering contempt after the club sounded a final call for season ticket holders to snap up £46 briefs for the club's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Wednesday, February 12. Record Sport has also felt the acrimony first hand with our inboxes and Hotline jammed with fans who want answers. Jota returned and Jeffrey Schlupp was signed on a six-month loan with Kieran Tierney's return taking place in the summer.

And Celtic punters haven't paused for breath with chief executive Michael Nicholson and non-executive chairman Peter Lawwell in their cross hairs. The charge being levelled at the Parkhead bigwigs is one of treating the upcoming Champions League knockout clash – the club's first in 13 years – as a "glorified friendly" after Kyogo was sold to Rennes for £10m with the first response urging decision makers to "read the room".

Brendan Quinn wrote: "Money grabbing for something you have accepted as a glorified friendly."

Tony Nicol added: "Is this the game the board clearly view as a glamour friendly? Seeing success as getting to the playoff round and not having an ounce of ambition to try get beyond that. For once, dare to dream. Push the boat out. Context with staying one point ahead in Scotland. Sad."

Smiddy said: "If Celtic acted as quickly trying to sign players as they do trying to get even more money out the fans we might actually have a chance of putting up a fight in this game."

Hugh Moan, proving his name to be apt, said: "I'm on the home cup ticket scheme but I wouldn't blame anybody for not buying a ticket. We're going to get skelped and we've come out of the transfer window weaker than we entered it."
