Reading boss Noel Hunt is not aware of a bid from Stevenage for defender Michael Craig amid reports of interest.

The 21-year-old has racked up over 70 appearances for the club since moving from Tottenham Hotspur and has moved to full-back this season despite breaking through as a midfielder.

Out of contract in the summer, as are many first-team regulars, reports have linked the defender with a move to League One rivals Stevenage.

According to Football Insider, Alex Revell has seen a bid 'rejected' by the Royals.

However, speaking after Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to Burton Albion, Hunt said "as far as I know there has not [been a bid]."

This comes just days after the former striker confirmed Premier League bottom club Southampton had bid for 17-year-old left-back Andre Garcia, but no bids had 'met the club's valuation.'

The winter window slams shut on Monday, February 3 at 11pm, and Hunt is hoping this comes around with little fuss.

"Every player, to us, is priceless," Hunt said. "It’s as simple as that. That is how I feel about it.

"It is important that first and foremost we hit our short targets of 50 points and then we can look from there, the sooner the better. If we keep performing like tonight, hopefully it will come sooner rather than later."

The Reading Chronicle will live blog the entire deadline day right up until the window slams shut at 11pm on Monday.
