Reading boss previews 'fresh' Charlton test and speaks of 'greatly experienced' Jones
Reading boss Noel Hunt has praised 'greatly experienced' Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones ahead of tomorrow's meeting between the pair.
Over 2,500 Royals supporters are making the trip to the Valley, looking for a fourth successive win in League One and to remain in the play-off picture.
On New Year's Day, the Royals overcame struggling Cambridge United 3-1, despite not playing at their best, and are looking for a first win at the home of the Addicks since 2020.
Charlton, sat in 11th, did not play on New Year's Day due to flooding at Crawley Town, giving them an extra few days preparation time in what has been a hectic festive period.
Speaking on the test posed by Charlton, Hunt said: "They didn’t play today, their game was postponed, so they’ll be fresh. They have a great manager, greatly experienced from this league and the one above, but we can only go there and put our best foot forward and have a go- 11v11 on the pitch- to see what we can come up with."
Hunt was forced into changing three of the regular back four at the Abbey Stadium due to illness and injury, and it remains to be seen whether any return in time for the trip to South London.
This does not phase, Hunt, however.
"We will always be ready to go. These boys have installed a resilience into them, and we have the underdog mentality of trying to outrun and outfight teams first- then we can play in the right places. It is a hectic period, especially with our squad the way it is, but anyone coming in I have full confidence in."
