Reading have confirmed the signing of Burton Albion attacker Billy Bodin on loan for the rest of the season.

Now 32, the former Bristol Rovers and Oxford United favourite only moved to the Pirelli Stadium over the summer but has only managed 15 appearances, scoring four times for the relegation-threatened side.

He has four promotions to his name, three times from League Two with Swindon, Crewe Alexandra and Bristol Rovers, on top of last year's promotion with Oxford.

A regular as the U’s were promoted to the Championship last season, Bodin follows in father Paul’s footsteps in joining the club, Paul having made nearly 50 appearances between 1996 and 1998.

Manager Noel Hunt said: "I'm really pleased to bring Billy into the squad for the rest of the season. He's an experienced player who knows this league well and has proven his quality over the years.

He’ll give us another attacking option, with his work rate, creativity and eye for goal will be a real asset to the team. We’re looking forward to working with him.”

He is eligible to make his debut for the club in Saturday's trip to Huddersfield Town.

It looks increasingly likely that Tyler Bindon will complete his move to Premier League Nottingham Forest, although he is set to return to the Royals on loan until the end of the season.
