Reading round off their Premier League International Cup campaign this evening (7pm kick-off) as Valencia visit the Select Car Leasing Stadium.

Qualifying for the European competition with a play-off finish last season under now first-team boss Noel Hunt, the Royals kickstarted their campaign with a big win over Dutch giants Ajax.

In a group with Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, the English sides do not face each other and only the top two progress to the knockout phase.

Following defeats to Monaco and Dinamo Zagreb earlier in the winter, Reading can no longer progress.

Valencia sit second and need a point to secure a place in the quarter-final alongside Nottingham Forest.

Heading into the final round of fixtures, the Royals sit sixth and three points clear of Tottenham and Wolves behind them.

Tyler Sackey, Jeremiah Okine-Peters and Michael Stickland are the trio of goalscorers for the Royals this season.

Brighton and Hove Albion, Sporting Lisbon, Fulham, Nordsjælland, Lyon and Athletic Bilbao currently sit in the top two although there are varying amounts of games played throughout the competition.

Reading reached the semi-final back in 2019, losing 3-1 to Bayern Munich in the last four as Danny Loader won the Golden Boot for the entire competition.

Valencia reached the final four stage in 2023 but are yet to win.

The Royals are sat 21st in PL2 out of 26 teams but have been forced to field a very young side due to first-team requirements.
