Reading play-off race expected to fall off in latest Super Computer prediction
Reading are set for a slide down the table according to the latest SuperComputer predictions.
The Royals, who lost 2-0 on Saturday at Leyton Orient, currently sit eighth after 26 matches with 12 wins.
In the play-offs until last week, and still only one point outside the top six with a game in hand, many supporters and pundits have been linking the club with a strong finish in the top six.
However, according to the Casino Hawks SuperComputer, Reading will drop into the bottom half and finish 13th.
This would still represent a four position improvement on last year's 17th-place position, but may leave some disappointed with the prospect of just seven wins in the final 20 league matches.
The position matrix is generated by simulating the entire season 10,000 times.
For each simulation, the code records where each team finishes in the table. These results are then converted into percentages, showing the probability of each team finishing in each position in the league.
Big-spending Birmingham City are expected to win the division with 101 points, joined in automatic promotion by managerless Wycombe Wanderers.
Stockport County and Leyton Orient, who have beaten Reading in the last fortnight, are joined by Barnsley and Charlton Athletic in the play-offs.
'Hollywood' Wrexham are expected to miss out on the play-offs altogether with an eighth-place finish, despite sitting third at the time of writing.
Cambridge United, Burton Albion, Shrewsbury Town and Crawley Town are expected to be relegated, with the Royals travelling to Burton and the Pirelli Stadium this evening.
Peterborough United, who were in the play-offs last year, are expected to finish 20th and four points ahead of the drop. Losing 5-1 to Lincoln City on Saturday, the Posh sit 19th at time of writing.
