Reading have rejected an offer from League One rivals Stevenage for defender Michael Craig, according to reports.

The 21-year-old arrived from Tottenham Hotspur in 2022 and has made 70 appearances for the first-team.

Signed as a midfielder, the youngster has spent the last nine months at right-back, covering for club captain Andy Yiadom during a long-term injury.

Playing 29 times this season, almost entirely at right-back, Craig is out of contract in the summer.

Only one week remains of the winter transfer window, with no player yet to depart despite rumours swirling around Craig, Harvey Knibbs and Andre Garcia.

According to Football Insider, Stevenage had 'made an offer to sign Craig permanently but the Royals have rejected the bid.'

Alex Revell's Boro, who sit 15th in League One, drew 1-1 with the Royals back in November.

On Thursday, manager Noel Hunt had said no offers had been made for players, but admitted they had received a phone call from Southampton for 17-year-old Garcia but no offers were near their valuation for the left-back.

The window closes at 11pm on Monday, February 3.
