Out of contract in the summer, the central defender has penned a three-and-a-half year deal at the City Ground but has agreed a loan back to Reading until the end of the season.

Tom Holmes, now of Luton Town, completed a similar deal last January and continued to be a crucial player during the run-in with Reading.

Nuno Espirito Santo's side, who won the European Cup back to back in the 1980s, sit third in the Premier League at the time of writing and look set to return to European competition for next season.

The owner of the Tricky Trees, Evangelos Marinakis, also owns Rio Ave in Portugal and Olympiacos in Greece.

Former Royals Nelson Abbey and Omar Richards are both with Rio Ave, Richards contracted to Forest but yet to make a debut for the club.

Nottingham Forest Chief Football Officer, Ross Wilson said "We have been impressed during our tracking of Tyler’s progress at Reading, and we are pleased to secure his signature today. We will be closely following his development as he now returns to Reading for the remainder of this season."
