Real Madrid chasing 2 Liverpool players plus Arne Slot's summer transfer target
Trent Alexander-Arnold isn't the only Liverpool player who could end up joining Real Madrid at the of the season, with Ibrahima Konate having apparently emerged as another summer target for the Bernabeu club.
Konate has established himself as the Reds' first-choice partner for Virgil van Dijk this season, and has been a key reason behind the Reds having the second-best defensive record in the league.
His brilliant form is said to have alerted Madrid, which has been dealing with an injury crisis in defense for much of the campaign. Eder Militao and Dani Carvajal are both sidelined with serious knee injuries, while David Alaba has also been plagued by a knee problem over the last year or so.

That has seemingly led to Madrid identifying defense as an area of the pitch to strengthen in, and the Daily Mail says that Konate is one of three center-backs that have been shortlisted ahead of the summer.
Also on that shortlist are Everton center-back Jarrad Branthwaite and Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen, who has been linked with a move to Liverpool this season.
Of course, there looks to be a good chance that Alexander-Arnold will make the switch to the Bernabeu this summer, and the prospect of Konate and Huijsen also moving to Madrid is worrying, as that would see the Reds lose two key players as well as potential transfer target.
It was also claimed last week that Konate is tempted by the prospect of a move to Paris Saint-Germain as his contract at Liverpool continues to wind down.
Konate's deal with the Reds is due to expire in the summer of 2026, and the club will soon find itself in a similar situation with the Frenchman as it is currently in with Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.
Losing Konate would clearly be a major blow, and depending on how Van Dijk's situation pans out, could leave the club in a terrible position at the back.
The prospect of losing both players this summer, plus Alexander-Arnold, doesn't bear thinking about for Reds fans, but ESPN reported that Konate is interested in moving to PSG — the club he supported as a boy. PSG is keen on signing a long-term partner for stalwart Marquinhos, with Konate apparently identified as a player who would fit the bill.
Konate said in a press conference during January that he had been offered a new contract by Liverpool but would not be drawn on his plan for the future. "I'm really focused on what will happen now and then we will see what happens," he said. "This is another conversation."
