Liverpool have enjoyed a strong first half of the season under new head coach Arne Slot with just one defeat in their 24 games so far under the Dutchman.

However, the campaign so far has been somewhat overshadowed by the uncertainty surrounding the futures of a number of key players, including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who are all out of contract in the summer. Luis Diaz and Ibrahima Konate are also among those the club will be eager to tie down sooner rather than later.

With the January transfer window now a matter of weeks away, in which Liverpool's out-of-contract players will be able to negotiate with clubs outside of England, the Liverpool Echo have taken a look at the latest transfer news and rumours from Anfield...

Real Madrid 'target' Liverpool star

Real Madrid are set to target another of Liverpool's big stars, according to recent reports. Los Blancos are already known suitors for homegrown talent Alexander-Arnold, who is yet to put pen to paper on a new contract to keep him at Anfield beyond next summer.

Club captain Van Dijk is also in the final 12 months of his deal, and outlet Footballtransfer.com have claimed Real Madrid are ready to part ways with David Alaba and Eder Militao in a bid to shake up their backline, with the Liverpool man said to be high on their transfer shortlist.

It has been suggested Van Dijk is considered a dream reinforcement for the La Liga giants, although there is an acceptance he could still extend his stay at Liverpool. Bayer Leverkusen's Jonathan Tah is also among the names under consideration, but Bayern Munich will likely emerge has strong contenders for the Germany international.

Luis Diaz future claim made

Elsewhere, Diaz is another Liverpool star with an uncertain future, although there is currently no pressing concern with the Colombian under contract until at least 2027. Reports in his homeland now suggest the winger is already eyeing a move to Barcelona.

According to outlet Antena 2 (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) negotiations on a contract extension have so far proved unfruitful and Barcelona is his preferred destination if a move away from the club becomes a possibility. Diaz has been one of Liverpool's highest performing players under Slot this season with nine goals and three assists to his name across all competitions.

The report does note that Liverpool's rumoured asking price of €80m would be significantly beyond what Barcelona could afford, which could pave the way for Paris Saint-Germain or AC Milan to pursue a move.
